Business of the Year 2020/21
The winner of this award will be selected by the judges from the other category winners.
Best BID Business of the Year
This award will go to the profitable BID levy-paying business in the BID area which has maintained or increased its potential over the latest financial year. The size and age of the business will be considered against its financial performance.
Enviromental Business of the Year
This award will go to the company which has shown outstanding commitment to manage the environmental impact of its business or has developed its own business in the field of managing the environmental impact of other businesses or the wider community.
Innovative Business of the Year
This award will go to a business which has introduced a new product, process, invention, idea, or design which has made a significant contribution to the business.
Young Entrepreneur of the Year
This award is open to young business people enjoying success in building their own business, or to employees who have had an outstanding impact in contributing to the success of a larger organisation.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The winner of this category is selected by the judges.
This award will go to the business man or woman who, in the opinion of the judges, has made a considerable, profitable and lasting contribution to business in south east Wales over a period of at least 20 years.
Hospitality Business of the Year
This award will go to any hospitality business which has maintained or increased its performance or potential in the latest financial year. The size and age of the business are relevant and will be considered against its performance.
Digital Technology Business of the Year
This award will go to the profitable business which has maintained or increased its potential over the latest financial year. The size and age of the business will be considered against its financial performance.
Best Place to Work Award
This award will go to the company which believes its environment is the best place to work.
Family Business of the Year
This award is open to first generation family-owned companies, multi-generational businesses and publicly-owned firms in which founding families still hold a significant stake.
Large Business of the Year
This award will go to a profitable business which can demonstrate growth or maintenance over last 12 months as well as future growth potential and a positive impact on south east Wales economy. The size and age of the business will be taken into consideration when evaluating its financial performance.
Small Business of the Year
This award will go to a profitable business which can demonstrate growth or maintenance over last 12 months as well as future growth potential and a positive impact on south east Wales economy. The size and age of the business will be taken into consideration when evaluating its financial performance.
Start Up Business of the Year
This award will be given to a company which has been launched or has had a change of ownership within the past three years.
Contribution to the Community Award
This award will recognise the business which has demonstrated responsible business practices across the four areas of local community, environment, their people and supply chain.
Customer Service Award
The award will be presented to the business which has provided the best service to the local community. This business will be seen to be regularly going ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty to ensure its customers receive excellent service. This award will be presented to the company who demonstrates excellent business acumen and high achievement in business.
Training and Development Business of the Year
Judges will be looking for entries which highlight either a training company’s innovative courses or businesses internal training and development programmes and the positive impact they have on staff.
